How to Layer Perfumes?

Why would you want to layer your perfume?

If you ever wanted to have a unique scent you can make your own without knowing any perfumery. I’m going to make it simple and easy and allow for creativity.

  1. Start Heavy

Start with the heavier scents so what you put on top won’t disappear.

  1. Know your fragrance families

Do your research or better yet find out through trial and error which notes works best together or you like best.

The easiest way is no stay in the same family. May it be floral, sweet, fresh…

The other way is to combine opposite families like sweet (vanilla note) and spicy, or other combinations that you might like.

  1. Don’t forget your lotions

Don’t forget that you can use any of your body oils and scented body lotions as well. In other words, you do not need to use perfumes all the time, which is great news because that can be quite expensive.

These three simple rules are all you need to know. Now you can create your own unique scent.

  4. You actually make it appear so easy with your presentation however I in finding this matter to be actually something which I think I would never understand. It kind of feels too complicated and very wide for me. I’m looking forward for your subsequent submit, I¡¦ll attempt to get the cling of it!

  5. Never really layered colognes, but there were cases when it comes to layering one with a lotion or oil (I think many people have tried that one). I’d have to test out layering colognes though

  6. Great review on layering perfumes. I have heard fragcomm occassionally mention this concept, but I have personally not tried this yet. Thank you for the information.

  7. I kinda like the “paint by numbers” approach some brands have taken by telling you what scents would go well together. But, I definitely want to try some combos for myself. Thanks for the tips.

  8. Great ideas….always fun to get new ideas about anything scent related! I am a big fan of using fragrance mists as a “topper” for perfumes, to accent whatever notes I’m in the mood for that day!

  9. Scented oils are the ticket. I have purchased several oils with matching perfume. I use both and then add a complimentary oil over the perfume/ oil. Very nice results, I like musk smells so I add a light musk on top of perfume/ oil. Works great!

  10. I like to layer fragrances to try to end up with either something unique or try to crate something in my head. Many times I have an idea of whay scent I want, only to find it doesn’t actually exist.
